We didn’t just want to bring 5G to iPhone 12 Pro, we wanted to deliver the best 5G experience possible, without compromise. So we had to do things a little differently.

The new capabilities of iPhone 12 Pro require speed. Lots of it. And one way to make a chip faster is to add more transistors, meaning you have to make the chip bigger or the transistors smaller.

iPhone is already designed from the ground up for AR, and now the LiDAR scanner in iPhone 12 Pro takes things to a whole new level.
Steady as you go.
The optical image stabilisation (OIS) on iPhone 12 Pro now makes adjustments to the Wide camera 5,000 times per second — five times faster than iPhone 11 Pro. And it does an amazing job of keeping photos sharp and videos steady. But to stabilise the iPhone 12 Pro Max Wide camera, we had to come up with an entirely different system.

It’s easy to capture sharp, clear detail when you’re taking photos in bright light. In mid- to low-light scenarios, like morning landscapes or candlelit dinners, Deep Fusion comes into play to render the detail you need for a great shot.
A camera that thinks like a photographer.
With Smart HDR 3, the camera now recognises everyday scenes just like you do. Then it adjusts different parts of the photo, to look as true to life as possible.
Apple ProRAW. For an absurd amount of creative control.
ProRAW gives you all the standard RAW information, along with the Apple image pipeline data. So you can get a head start on editing, with noise reduction and multi-frame exposure adjustments already in place — and have more time to tweak colour and white balance.
A new pro video experience. Only on iPhone.
The jump from 8- to 10-bit HDR recording is tremendous, capturing tons more colour. And adding end-to-end Dolby Vision — from capture to edit to playback — allows iPhone 12 Pro to do even more than film industry cameras.
Now every night is movie night.
The Wide camera’s larger sensor brings far more detail out of the shadows. And for the first time, you can take Night mode Time‑lapse videos with a tripod to capture scenes with dramatic motion. Now even your movies can pull an all-nighter.
TrueDepth camera. It’s never too late to take another Night mode selfie.
Night mode comes to the front camera, bringing all that low-light detail and natural colour to your favourite subject. Deep Fusion, Smart HDR 3 and Dolby Vision recording are now on the TrueDepth camera too. So you’ll look your best in any light.
Super Retina XDR display. An infinity pool of pixels.
How do you make our brightest display even better? Make it bigger. A new design with flat edges and our flexible custom OLED allowed us to push the screen’s amazing colour, brightness and contrast right to the very edge.
MagSafe accessories. Everything just clicks.

Privacy is built in.
iPhone is designed to protect your information. Face ID data doesn’t leave your iPhone and is never backed up to iCloud or anywhere else. iOS shows you an app’s privacy practices before you download it. When you use Apple Pay, your card number isn’t shared with merchants. And the list goes on.
We reduced our carbon footprint. By thinking inside the box.
Across the iPhone family, we’re removing the power adapter and EarPods that often go unused, but including the fast‑charging USB‑C to Lightning cable that most people need. That shrinks packaging, and more boxes per shipment means fewer shipments overall. We’re also transitioning our manufacturing partners to renewable energy. Altogether, this eliminates over 2 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
